The Itsy Bitsy Spider

One song that I sing to my daughter almost every night before she goes to bed is The Itsy Bitsy Spider. Here's a refresher course on how it goes. The itsy bitsy spider crawled up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain and the itsy bitsy spider crawled up the spout again. I'm not trying to sing y'all to sleep here, I just always think of the song a little differently. Here's what I think of when I sing it. Lets break it down, and put ourselves in the song. The itsy bitsy spider to me signifies us as humans living our every day normal lives. Everything is going great and then all the sudden something (the rain for this purpose) knocks us back down to Earth. And when things get really bad we pray to the Son of God (He is the sun in the song for me), Jesus, and he reminds us that we are blessed, and that we are loved, and we rally and pick ourselves up and climb back up the water spout. Remember, when things get bad, they aint nothing compared to what our Lord Jesus did for us on that cross. And, God has promised us that He won't give those of us that love him a temptation we cant escape from with His help (1 cor 10:13). Think about it...why would we have a need for God if he gave us only things we could handle. Turns out we spiders need him pretty bad. This might be corny but its whats been on my heart all day. Thanks to the Son of Man for drying up all the rain and saving us from an eternity in a fiery place.

It's quite a testimony to see you looking at all things through a godly lens. Even a children's nursery ryhme. That's the first time I've heard the Itsy Bitsy Spider parable and like I said, it is clear evidence that right now you are living life with those godly lens' on.
