Watch Your Tongue

E-fellowship...whats up? (Did you read that with a echoing deep voice? Cuz thats how it sounded in my head.) Anyway, today i'll be talking about controlling our tongues....
JAMES 3: 3-6 3When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. Wow! And ouch! I have fallen from that horse more than once and will probably again. I'm not just talking about cussing. I'm talking bout everything we say. Are we lifting people up...or are we tearing em down. Are we telling lies or are we lettin our yesses be yesses and no's be no's. Spring training started today and i've already got one tear down in the book...felt guilty the resta the day. Lets ask ourselves these questions. How do we think our teamates see us? And, almost more importantly, how do our biggest rivals see us? I want that team i'm playing against to know that i'm bringing everything i got, all day, but when the day is done they haven't lost any respect for me as a competitor and man. In the same way i want my teamates to look at me as someone who they can trust to go into battle with them, and know i aint running away, and wont have deceived them with false words. Another aspect is of the fans watching, or if you arent playing, just everyday citizens. Are they seeing us spout love or erupt with F-bombs. The point is this...there are always people watching, and waiting to judge us. Lets not give em any fuel for the fire.
