How do you memorize Scripture?

How do you memorize Scripture?

Just started this discipline and so far my method is straightforward. I just memorize a few verses at a time and then repeat them as I try to add on to them. I've liked the approach of memorizing paragraphs of even whole chapters rather than just one verse hear and there but that's a personal preference decision.

I agree with Terry...I'm trying to memorize entire passages rather than just a few verses here and there. However, I do think its necessary to memorize the few here and there.

I usually write out the passage on a sheet of paper one verse at a time...for example:

Romans 8

1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 For the law of the Spirit of Christ has set you free from the law of sin and death.

3 For God did what the law, weakened by the flesh, couldn't do. By sending his son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

And so on...

I've found that the more I write it the better I retain it...but either way it takes tons of repetition.
